DIRebreather Expedition on Garibaldi battleship wreck
The 7th of May concluded the DIRrebreather Expedition on the Garibaldi wreck.
The battleship sunk in 1915 after been striked by a torpedo of austrian subarine U4.
Today the wreck lies at 122mt depth in the area of Cavtat close to Dubrovnick (Croazia), Adriatic Sea.
The DIRebreather Team did 15 dives on the wreck searching confirmations about the position of the torpedo explosion and the slope of the wreck's reversal. The hard sea conditions with waves and strong current (more than 3knots) limited the number of dives planned.
Dives run time was between 2h30' and 4h. The team used more or less 150lt of Oxigen and 150lt of Helium
All dives were done in eCCR except one (OC). All divers were equiped with Megalodon ccr excluding Marco Valenti with HammerHead eCCR by Juergensen Marine.
The divers:
Pim van der Horst, expedition leader (Meg)
Drazen Goricki, (Meg)
Jordi Mateo (Meg)
Christoph Brieger (Meg with dpv Bonex 'Edition')
Marco Valenti (HammerHead ccr, dpv Bonex 'Edition', GolemGear back plate and CCR wings, Hypoxic lights)
Richard De Leth (OC)
Christian Mueller (Meg)
